This evening arround 19.30u a twoship of Dutch Chinooks was overhead Soest, and the former airbase Soesterberg. Not the very best pictures (I had not a lot of time to get my camera in the right settings) but I think it gives a nice impression of this noce formation

Re: Chinooks overhead Soest
The where flying over Den Dolder as well. It was nice to see them here again. It reminded me of the "good old days", although that is just 6 months ago.
I missed them on my scanners, so no idea what they where doing here.

Yes it was a nice surprise! And I also didn't expect these choppers in this area. I knew about nightflying this week, but that's at Gilze and Deelen. Off course I can also live with some movements arround Soesterberg

Probably noted the same two Chinooks at around 08.30u this morning overhead Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal near Diemen northbound which is quite unusual too..
check http://www.planepix.nl or aviationpix.nl for great images!

Re: Chinooks overhead Soest
I'm sorry and don't take it personal, but I don't see any reason to show these pics on the messageboard. The quality is dreadful and I about enjoyed looking at these as much as I did reading the sentence: Chinooks overhead Soest.
But (I don't want to make any (more?) enemies) ofcourse you are free to post here whatever you like.

Actually that was my first thought also looking at these pics. They arn't that special since chinooks fly all over holland.kiwi wrote:I'm sorry and don't take it personal, but I don't see any reason to show these pics on the messageboard.
But as you wrote, everybody is free to post...

The D-664 should be the D-661 according to my pictures which I took when the two were flying overhead my house in Rijen. This I remberred because I was working on the D-661 in the past when I was doing some working experience on Woensdrecht (LCKLu) that's the reason I remember this number (I normally don't care about the numbers)
Re: Chinooks overhead Soest
I have to agree with Colin. 'Not the best quality' is kind of an understatement.
When something very exotic happens it might still be nice to 'get the idea' or something, but two dutch Chinooks? In the middle of Holland....
