Air ambulance helicopter given parking ticket
Jobsworth traffic warden hands £80 penalty to baffled pilot as he saves pedestrian's life
by: Tom Chivers12 May 2009
An air ambulance received a parking ticket in Cavendish Square
AN AIR ambulance pilot got the shock of his life when he landed his helicopter in central London on an emergency call – and was given a parking ticket.
The ambulance was responding to a 999 call in Cavendish Square, Westminster, when the bizarre event occurred.
Despite giving life-saving aid to a stricken pedestrian, the £80 ticket was issued. Thankfully, the pilot was able to laugh about it.
Off-street parking is available in Cavendish Square – at a cost of £32 a day.

Makes me think of this German guy, who helped a woman who suffered from a heard attack on the street a couple of weeks ago; http://www.tz-online.de/aktuelles/bayer ... 16855.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (in German)

The London story must be a joke to my opinion.
I can't imagine that there are traffic (parking) laws which also speak about flying vehicles instead of road vehicles.

That doesn't say anything if it is a joke or not. Cause every good joke is prepared in the best way, a photo with the ticket in your hand can be part of that preparation.
Ah well, nice story.

Well, at least the warden is trying his best to help the UK beat its recession. But someone should explain that following emergency vehicles isn't the optimum way.

Re: The bizarrest parking ticket ever??
I recall a story with a US Navy S-3 Viking somewhere in the UK (think it was Abingdon or Waddington?) which overran the runway , ended up with its nose through a shrubbery, on the road side. Must have been 15+ years ago, but I think I saw a picture of it (maybe in Aircraft illustrated?) with a parking ticket under the windscreen wiper... Did some googling but was unable to find it.. anyone??

I think it was at AIT at Boscombe Down or Greenham Common when it overran the runway at arrival.

Re: The bizarrest parking ticket ever??
What about that story I read last week in a newspaper:
A car in New York had a lot of parking tickets but hadn't moved for days. Just every time a policeman came by another ticket was put under the screenwheeper.
When a company came to pull the car away, they found the driver sitting behind the steering wheel. Dead for some days. No cop had witnessed while filing the tickets.
