50 years JG 71"R" F-4 special c/s shooting 30.04.2009
Hi gents,
In occasion with the 50 years anniversary of the Fighter Wing 71 "R" ( JG 71"R" ) , we traveled Thursday to Wittmund, as the wx forecast was more as good for that day, we could see the newest special colored F-4 of the "Richthofen" Wing which will shown to the public for the first time in June, when the JG 71"R" will celebrate there 50 years anniversary.
Also a spottersday will be held in June 5, 2009 - and this beauty is one of the stars on that weekend.....
The a/c arrived on Monday in Wittmund from Jever where the 37+03 was adorned with a splendid c/s and was flown by the former Wing Commander during his last flight, as JG 71"R" has since Tuesday a new Wing Commander.
And the latest anniv. mighty Phantom was also on display during the handover ceremony too......
So my decision was easy...driving down up to Wittmund in the morning and returning home afterwards, so we spent 6 hrs driving back and for and almost 650 km - but it was more as worth, and as result we could shoot this beauty under a blue sky by 24°C outside!
Thanks must go to everyone involved, and of course my host unit the JG 71"R", and all the air and ground crews that worked hard to prepare the specially adorned mighty Phantom, and make this shooting to happen..... from the tow-truck driver, fire dept, technicians who were responsible for positing the F-4 as we like to have it and everyone did an extraordinary job on that day!!!
Here you will find my personal highlight from that visit in Wittmund, as the special colored 37+03 was my main focus during this visit - off course.
All the hard work has paid off, and the results are great images.
And with the photo-positions we had , for example from the shelter or even with a nice backdrop with trees, it was a great scenery.... and as there was still a bit of spare time, we spent some time to shoot some locals and visitors too.
As already pictures of the spec colored Phantom where posted already beginning of this week by the airbrusher team ( who did btw. a splendid job! ), most of you guys know already that the "Richthofen" Wing has a new spec c/s Phantom.....
Ok enough of my blabla, and the impressions will tell the rest of the story.
More pictures will be shown here after they have been issued in the magazine.....the a/c has two different tail art´s, beside a nice belly and on top of the wings also markings etc....!
As always c & c are more as welcome, and thanks for watching
Cheers,
Mick

Ok gents, thanks at first for all your great comments...and indeed this mighty Phantom is a real beauty, and hope many of you guys will see it in real - you will love it
Here are a few more shots, more will follow soon from a different angle and position
So enjoy them...
Cheers,
Mick
Top view, where you can see the "50".....
Close-up and detail of the left tail....with the famous Richthofen´s Fokker Dr.I triplane. There is also a nice detail in the contour drawing below the Fokker - who know´s what I mean, its a famous building near to where I live, a tip it´s in Cologne
Shelter view on too the beauty, what a day.....

Best regards,

that's not going to help future visits within the Luftwaffe.

Re: 50 years JG 71"R" F-4 special c/s shooting 30.04.2009
That´s not correct as I have the permission by the new Wing Commander himself ( I can send you by PM his answer ), to use my images for publication. So dont tell its not allowed when you dont know the story which has to do with my imagesphantomman wrote:As i understood from this forum: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/ind ... pic=184191" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would never post anywhere images when I dont have the permission, so first ask then write a note....
