Re: EHAM from the air 18-04-09
After seeing last years pictures I was quickly pursuaded to join this years Schiphol around the tower airtour.
I was one of the 7 flights times 6 passengers so 42 people doing the flight, Mine was the 16.00 tour.
This is our ride, note the high wing and big windows, apart fom an open door (this one closed for the flight) the next best thing for a photoshoot.
Pilots working place
On our way from Rotterdam to Schiphol, the bulb fields are in full flower
Air Nippon was doing a parallel aproach with us, sometimes you wish for more mm on your camera (big crop)
Cargo apron
cargo across the runway
various residents and visitors
On our way back we loitered over Rotterdam waiting for a place in the landing queu
The flight was an experience, I must say to get some pictures, even under these perfect conditions was not easy.
The plane made 2 tight left turn circuits around the tower and I was on the right side. This meant I was on the skyward looking side of the banking.
Also the ride was bouncy so it not always possible to perfectly frame your shot.
The ride was so bouncy that some people were in need of the sick bag.
Despite all this I really enjoyed this unique oppertunity offered by Kammair.

Hi,
Nice photos to you all.
I saw the Kamair several times passing Schiphol today.
Around 14:39lt i saw it passing above the C pier when i was busy on a KLM 737 on the front.
I make this picture and saw a few persons behind the windows, is there someone who has photograph me while standing on a KLM Cateringtruck on the front of the KLM 737 standing on C-11???.........
If so please post the photo or send me a private mail.

Here's my contribution from Rotterdam and the 16:00 hour flight. Indeed pretty bumpy. But nonetheless, I will never forget this.

Very nice pictures!
I'd love to go on a similair flight one day.
Is this something anyone can do? (With enough cash?)

Re: EHAM from the air 18-04-09
Depends, they only do it as far as I know in this spotting convention day. But they claim this year was the last time as Schiphol doesn't want small airplanes in its airspace anymore. But, I heard somebody say they claim that every year. So maybe next year again. If they do, I am soooooo going again. Oh, and it was only 85€'s.Derice wrote:Very nice pictures!

Re: EHAM from the air 18-04-09
What a lovely collection of photos! And some interesting views of where I work, and almost where I live, too.
But, apart from that hopefully temporary ban on VFR traffic, being able to do sight-seeing flights over Schiphol depends on several factors:
- the weather
- the traffic situation
- the controller
You guys were lucky everything was optimal yesterday: great visibility, an afternoon with little traffic and controllers who enjoy giving a small plane a nice ride. I was able to have PH-KMR do a low-over on 06 on one of the flights, did that bring any interesting shots of the cargo planes?
CU next time - no promises made.
