Nice compositions but your photo's seem all to miss sharpness, looks like to me your auto focus has problems.

hi
it misses not only sharpness, it looks to me as if there are some shots over-exposed.
the landscape is for me a nice one.
regards

Compositions of no.'s 1 and 2 could be better, I agree on the focus thing, but there's nothing wrong with your backgrounds !

The sun here is a real pain sometimes so i tried to under-expose but i guess it wasnt enough. Maybe i just screwed it up in photoshop. I'm not sure whats going on with regards to sharpness. I tried shooting at a high shutter speed but i think that my lens is just not up to the job. I'm using a UV filter, could this be causing problems ?
Might be a stupid question but, what do you mean ?Schffrs wrote:Compositions of no.'s 1 and 2 could be better,

I think he means that it is very tight in the composition (no1), at the nose and canopy and it looks as if we miss something there on the left. It's like you made a shot that hovers inbetween a close-up and a more of an overview of the aircraft. Sharpness is indeed not so great here.
What lens do you use? I would defenitly takeoff the UV filter and redo the shots if you still have the time and oppertunity. Some lenses tend to perform better without the filter (in sharpness and focusshunting)
No.2
Same here, the plane in the middle misses the tail , so a starboard turn with your camera would solve that. Secondly the nose of the right plane would be moving more into frame and give a beter view. Now you miss parts of all 3 in the frame and that looks a bit messy. Also zooming out would do better for this view but it will cost detail.
Greets!

Gents, I took the liberty of moving the follow-up here. Feel free to discuss all lens matters over there!

Thanks, i just wasnt sure if i could hold on to my 450D when upside down at +5G or -2G so i didnt want to risk breaking it or letting go and having floating around the cockpit. In the end i didnt take very many pictures as i concentrated on enjoying the view. It was an amazing day. I'll bring the 450D when i go up next year.Andras wrote:Well, that is wack! Guiness,
I got your email and will send you something today. Are you planning on being in Volkel for Open Dagen ?
