Inspired by Iwan's great MiG-29 shots, I decided to upload some shots of another great jet from the Mikoyan-Gurevich factory. All shots were taken in Romania, last year in August. Several have been published in magazines and on the internet, so it's about time they appear here.
Hope you like 'em.
1) Give me fuel, give me fire..
2) Some earplugs came in handy here
3) Fresly painted LanceR A
4) Lancer B 9536, my photoship for the next day:
5) Take off with the city of Bacau in the background
6) Banking over Bacau
7) What can I say..
Straight and level
9) Close up
10) LanceR A over a flooded river, on return to Bacau

Very nice, DJ! Indeed I remember having seen some of them before.
Same question for you as I had for Iwan: what kind of chaseplane was used for this shoot?
Thanks,
Herbert

Hi DJ,
Some great shots. You manage to capture your shots without any canopy reflection. How do you do that? (or has it been photoshoped?). Everytime I make a pic from the inside of a plane to the outside I get the reflection....
Regards,
Sven

Although it is dificult to avoid glare, here are some tips:
* Try to put your lens fully straight to the window. If there is a curve in the window, this is more difficult
* When taking an a-2-a shot try to shoot the other aircraft when it is straight infront of your lens. An angle will make it more difficult to autofocus.
* If possible clean the window on the outside and the inside
* If possible make pictures from the cockpit window instead of the windows in the back of an airplane (cockpit windows are laminated, normal windows have 2cm of air between both glasses)
regards Maarten
