UK based discounter camera shop

Post by Agfaritsrats »

Hi guys,

I am looking for hints for UK based discounter -real world- camera shop(s) with internet trading (comparable in pricing and operations to Rotterdam's Kamera-Expr or Foka). Your inside tips are welcome.

TIA

Maybe http://www.warehouseexpress.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? Seems like they have a showroom in Norwich.

Hi

WARNING

stay away from http://www.sonexshop.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.sonexshop.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; since this is a FAKE shop. They offer cameras and lenses etc. for prices which are too good to be true. The shop mentions that they are based in London, UK, even supply their address, postcal code etc, but it's all nonsense.

Cheers,
Eric

tnx so far.
not all canon cameras are not truly very much cheaper (taking into account the current rate euro-pound sterling), but the 50Ds difference is really worth while.
Must check other stuff out.

Good tip!!!
That exchange rate of the UK pound is these days very good for us who pay in euro's.

you r welcome. happy to have had the pointer to this shop myself. :D
EOS 50: save 103 :!: euro over kamera-express which are not particularly consumer friendly on top of that. And 98 euro :!: on white 70-200mm 2.8 L non-is.
incredible advantage € 265 for the 28-300mm 3,5/5.6 L white.
(gbp now at 1.1 euro) (did not check Foka yet).

and they do deliver to main land europe / NL. (tip, check their parcel fees before going happy !)

But than you're importing stuff. You will loose your advantage to the tax-officer. I think it's probalby better to go to the UK yourself combining it with a visit to a not cancelled RIAT.

As far as i know, as long as you are ordering goods from within the EEC as a privat person you have no problem with taxes as it is considered as 1 market.
In the past i have ordered plenty of items from Germany and UK and never had problems with taxes.

which is the same (importing via mail or in the car or aeroplane), right? -(if it does apply. you can try to avoid this by marking it as 'gift', I once read somewhere on this forum.)
anyway: I prefer indeed going there. Love to touch before I pay, kinda oldfashion, but proven tactic. and yes, combining it with 'some' helicopters and planes would be in order. (aircraftjunkieXL)

I used to buy in this ebay shop, that has also a shop in Bologna... Prices are really very low: a Canon 70-200 f4 IS USM is €880 shipped!
I've bought 2 Canon lenses from it, one of them (100-400) get the Canon cashback bonus! ;-)
