Moreover, the participation of a few foreign F-16s, Tornado Euro fighters, MiG 29s, L-39s, Harriers and JAS 39 Gripens SWE has been promised. Also, an air display is prepared of such aircraft as JAS 39 Gripen CAF and SWAF, L-159 ALCA, Mi 17, Mi 24, W 3 A SOKOL, F-16 NAF, MiG 29 SAF and also a group air displays of sports aircraft, the Para force displays, a display of the birds of pray training, the base fire brigade’s intervention, military veteran cars displays, etc. You are welcome.

AFAIK there is no website for the show yet. But the Air Base has a website http://www.afbcaslav.cz/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Only problem is it's in Czech so I have no idea what it says.
Kind regards

Give this a try. Go onto Google language toolsjaah wrote:AFAIK there is no website for the show yet. But the Air Base has a website http://www.afbcaslav.cz/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Only problem is it's in Czech so I have no idea what it says.
http://www.google.co.uk/language_tools?hl=en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Go down to the "translate a webpage" section and paste in the base's website. Change the language on the left to "Czech" and the right hand one to the language of your choice (e.g English) and hit "translate".
It's not perfect but it will give you a pretty good attempt at translating it into English - enough to understand what they are talking about.

This is the official website of that event: http://www.openday2009.eu/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
English version now available: http://openday2009.eu/en/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Simple question... I had a look for the pics taken in Caslav during 2005 and 2007 open days and I saw the airfield map...
is the public in front of the sun?!!
If you see all the pictures on A.net (for instance) are taken from the opposite side, the public is inside the picture!! So are them in a press zone or just outside the airfield in a better spotting zone?
Thankyou!

This is the airfield, sun is on the south. I think, that those pictures were taken outside the airfield and people, who took them, were behind the fence.
Re: Czech Air Force 90th anniversary @Caslav 23May
I'm planning to visit for the first time this year. I'm interested in seeing the preserved aircraft on the base. Looking at Google Earth, it seems that they are arranged around a building quite far from the static display.
Can anyone who has been to the open day before, tell me if it is usually possible to visit this area? If so, should I try to park in any specific car park? (I see there are several car parks quite far apart).
Thanks guys.

Most of the preserved aircraft have been moved last year. When I was there in Fabruaru 2008 only a MiG21MF at the gate and a MiG21MF and MiG 15 in front of the maintenance hanagr were present. Some pictures:

Hi, If you mean pictures like the one below, these were taken on base, but indeed on the other side of the runway (not accessible for the general public)Daniele wrote:Simple question... I had a look for the pics taken in Caslav during 2005 and 2007 open days and I saw the airfield map...

Although the other side of the base is easily accessible from the ring road around Caslav. Park your car near the cemetary, cross the ring road and walk up to the fence. Not a long a walk and not too far from the runway.Arnold ten Pas wrote:Hi, If you mean pictures like the one below, these were taken on base, but indeed on the other side of the runway (not accessible for the general public)Daniele wrote:Simple question... However, how well this will be accessible during an airshow remains to be seen of course....

"V letošním roce začíná muzejní sezóna 25.dubna a končí 31.října 2009."
If your Czech is a bit rusty , this means that the season is from 25th April to 31st October.
Just remember that they dont open on Mondays.
