Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Part 2 Tanagra 11NOV

Post by Ergo01 »

The weather was overcast and dark.
Notable difference of the new Mirages is an extra hardpoint under the wing.

part 3 Nea Aghialos 10 NOV

Post by Ergo01 »

On some bases operational photography was not frowned upon, everybody did. Guess Tanagra has gotten used to it after the show in September.
Nea Aghialos was a different story. Photography of the static was only allowed after showing a letter from HAF HQ. Results were bad mood at Security and some shots in overcast weather

Operations had started already when we came in at 0930.
The stars for us are the RF4Es

Monuments and relics 9NOV

Post by Ergo01 »

On the way form Agrionion to Larisa we stumbled upon this F5 in fading light. Location Agios Georgios, 25 km East of Karpenissi. Anyone for its former identity?

At Agrinion an RF104 had been towed for static display

Actually, I think it's brother has been towed away recently. Google Earth shows the two on the apron there. The A-7 opposite on the static was towed in, I think.
Messolongi: still a nice catch of airframes!

Earlier on, beneath the wing of the F4 on the static were bombs and Mirages.

This Starfighter hasn't moved for a long time! I noticed they even repainted the grounding point on the tarmac below without removing the aircraft from its position!

Local colour

Post by Ergo01 »

Along the way between bases we saw these signs. They seem to say there are speed camera's (but not very sophisticated ones). We did see one with a box thrown over it.
Image
The sign saying detour to Elefsis Air Base. It took us 30 minutes to find out.
Image
We loved Larisa. Visitors were mostly schoolclasses.
Image
Hellenic Air Force RF4s have an empty camera compartment that can be viewed through.
Image
The RF4 have a fixed spot for last chance checks. It shows on the ground.
Image
And an F16 between the cedar treees
Image
Definitely a worth while trip!!

Saw that one too! 8)

Do not be mistaken by the symbols, the UK has the same and I hear they can be quite effective.
