Acc. luchtvaartnieuws.nl KLM will end services to/from Hyderabad, caused by the current economic situation and decreasing demand in Indian air traffic.

As from the upcomming wintersschedule (starting next weekend) KL will reduce to 4 weekly flights to HYD and remove this station completely from their network from the 1st of February 2009.

Regards, Mike
That means extra capacity....any ideas on how they are going to fill this gap?

More info on that;

Eastern's proposed flight schedule is as follows.

Departure LCY Arrival AMS Departure AMS Arrival LCY
06:50 09:05 07:30 07:45
08:15 10:30 09:35 09:50
10:25 12:40 11:15 11:30
12:00 14:15 13:10 13:25
14:05 16:20 14:45 15:00
15:30 17:45 16:55 17:10
17:40 19:55 18:15 18:30
19:00 21:15 20:25 20:40

Eastern plans to operate the above schedule from 4 January 2009 and that would restore competition to pre-merger levels on the LCY-AMS route.

Exactly what we need, another carrier on the route.

Eastern Airways is replacing KLM not VLM on the LCY-AMS-LCY route:

QUOTE from the UK Office of Fair Trading:
A new schedule which would allow the new entrant (Eastern) to replicate precisely the frequency previously offered by KLM during the peak periods.

Short explanation:

KLM/Air France has been allowed to take-over VLM but will have to lower the ammount of slots at LCY.

These slots have been transferred to Eastern AW and are most slots, previously operated by VLM.

VLM will stop operations at AMS as of December 31st.
(Date December 1st has also been mentioned.)

Some remaining slots not transferred to Eastern are going to be operated by Cityjet.

According to this article, we can expect Eastern Airways' Saab 2000's at AMS 8x per weekday for flight between AMS and LCY.

Let's see if prices will drop now that KL, BA, VG and T3 wil operate the route...

A quick look at slotcoordination confirms there are indeed al lot of slots for Eastern from January 2009...

Keep you posted..
