Airshows communications (frequencies)
Hello!
I'm quite knew here and didn't spent much time here yet, so hope don't mess up something making this new topic. If it's not right fix it with patience, please.
I'd like to ask you a general question:
What kind of frequencies are being used during airshows in general? Are they standard airport frequencies? Or are they special ones, chosen exclusively to serve during an airshow only?
And if so, let's try to collect them here - what do you think of the idea?
And one specific topic - ILA Berlin (I'm going there on Saturday)
Are there any specific frequencies used during ILA in Berlin?
And how about using a radio scanner in Germany? Is it legal there?

And is there a chance anyone would "catch" me while listening? The Police or something?
And is there any controle while entering the airshow?
What could be the possible consequences of having a radio or listening to it?

I have heard about a penalty of some hundreds of euro's and going to court. But i have to say the German law about using scanners is not that quite clear. You may have certain frequencies in your scanner but some also not. (police and things like that). I do not want to take the risk but it is up to you.What could be the possible consequences of having a radio or listening to it?

Enige voorwaarde is dat het apparaat is gemachtigd voor Duitsland. Een van de volgende tekens moet er dan op staan: CE-teken, BZT-teken of het BMPT-teken.
BOS-communicatie (politie, ambulance, brandweer, e.d.) mag alleen worden ontvangen door personen met een BOS-machtiging. Wie toch per ongeluk BOS-communicatie ontvangt mag de inhoud van die gesprekken niet aan derden doorgeven.
Wordt U aangetroffen met niet toegestane frequenties in het geheugen, dan bent U in principe strafbaar.
Een scanner zonder batterijen in de koffer is niet gebruiksklaar en kan zonder problemen op doorreis worden meegenomen.
Wie deze regels van de FAG en StGB overtreed en zonder toestemming luistert naar BOS-communicatie, maakt zich strafbaar en loopt het gevaar met geld of gevangenis beboet te worden.
Your scanner has to be licensed by the German authorities, you can see this by the followings signs/markings on your scanner CE, BZT, BMPT. You may not have police, ambulance and firefighting frequencies in your scanner or listen to them.
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

The last years there were checks carried out at the entrance by security. Please take notice it's not only at airshows, but to have scanners that are ready to operate in Germany can be enough to spend some days (or more) in jail, just depends on the officer's mood that catch you. I would strongly recommend to leave the thing at home. This is what I read in a magazine about communication in the latter half of the 90's. As far as I have understood, the problem in Germany is that not every policeofficer can see if the machine is only to receive waves, or if it can be used to transmit also. That's why there are a few possibilities to operate things like scanners like Thijs told you, that ones are certified on behalf of the German government. I think it is quite late now to start this operation for ILA.

I am going to Ostrava for NATO Days on 20 Sept 2008 (this Saturday) and would like to take with me (as usually ) my radio scanner. And got a few questions connected with this.
1) Is it legal to use a radio scanner in Czech Republic and to listen to airband?
If not – do they check visitors in any way at the entrance?
2) I understand all the dynamic displays take place at LKMT. According to Czech AIP these are these frequencies in use at LKMT:
Ostrava APP/Radar – 125.100 MHz, 118.700 MHz
Mošnov TWR – 120.800 MHz
Mošnov ATIS – 118.050 MHz
Handling – 131.425 MHz
Are there any other special frequencies in use during NATO Days? Does anyone know them?
3) Does anyone know any special frequencies in use by the guests appointed to show up in the air?
According to the programme there sholud be on display:
British Hawk Demo Team
Czech Mi-24/35 - Advanced Aerial Display
Spanish Patrulla Águila
Polish 16th Airborne Battalion
Dutch F-16 Demo Team
Could anyone write here or remind the frequencies they use during display?
