Both the Patrouille Suisse and PC-7 Team will perform both days.

On the listings the 65th birthday of Sion Air Base is given as the reason given for the Tag der Offenen Tur.

According to the SIS section both Flst 18 and Flst 19 will have their Wiederholungskursus? during this period at Sion. So F5's and F18's.
So there should be plenty of aircraft on the base, but don't ask me if they can be seen during the open day.

There is a PDF flyer on the base website now. :D

Try this link (if it works) then click on the poster image.

The basic facts if my French translation is correct:-

Friday 26 September

13:00 Doors Open
14:00 –16:00 Flying Display
(Team PC-7)
(F/A-18 Hornet)
(Patrouille Suisse)
18:00 Doors close

Sat 27th September

09:00 Doors open
13:30 – 15:30 Flying Display
(Team PC-7)
(F/A-18 Hornet)
(Patrouille Suisse)
18:00 End of show

Static display of fighter aircraft, helicopters, transport aircraft and “oldtimers”
Fighter aircraft in their shelters?? (abri d’alarme)
Presentation of special vehicles of the air force
Demonstration of guard dogs
Presentation of military forces? (moyens militaries) from the airbase.
Flying display in the afternoon
Other attractions and much more….

Food etc open from 10:00 till 18:00

Shuttle bus from the Sion railway station
Parking at : Place de Pra-Bardy at Aproz (follow “Doors open” (Portes Ouvertes) signs.)

Sounds like quite a nice event - I've been to one of these open days some years ago at Meiringen and it was a low-key event (no foreign participation) but a nice day of wandering around the base.

Hopefully this one will be the same - I'm going!

Clarification of my question marks courtesy of my French speaking friend.

She tells me that "abri d'alarme" should be what we know as QRA shelters.

She translates "moyenes militaires" as "military means", so I'm not entirely sure what they are referring to - it's obviously some kind of ground display anyway, so no big deal.

I was in Switzerland recently and found out they have a testing period of 3 types of aircraft (for replacing the F5E in 2015). At this moment two Swedish Saab Gripens at being evaluated. I saw them at the St. Stefan during the Huntermeeting and during a test day at Meriringen. So you coulf expect some Gripens or otherwise some Eurofigters or Rafales, because they will be tested too.

That would certainly be a welcome bonus. We'll see what turns up on the day. (Sunshine would be the most welcome visitor  )

Very nice couple of days in mainly sunshine. No sign of any foreign participation but a good range of Swiss hardware on show. 8)

Full marks to the PC-7 team for a superb display against a beautiful background.

I'll post a full log if nobody beats me to it but in the meantime, did anybody manage to identify the two PC-9s parked between the buildings in the direction of the hornet shelters? :?:

Many thanks for posting a complete log - that saved me a bit of typing. :D
(Also thanks for tying up the 2 PC-9s) 8)

A couple of small corrections:-

V-619 PC-6 was present on the Saturday but was parked out of sight with the 2 PC-9s.

On the Friday, it was A-939 that landed to pick up the crew member.

Some additional info from my notes:-

Noted flying on Friday (not connected with the open day) were:-

F-5s J-3079/3092/3077/3093/3063
F-18s J-5008/5004/5015/5017/5019

Visiting on Friday (to the civil side) was A-702/HB-HOT JU-52

Outside the field were:-

J-1154 Vampire - preserved at a garage
0856 Mig-21UM - preserved at a military store
