No, it was not the dark-blue tailband of MacGuire... It was light-blue!

Do you know the serial of the Mildenhall KC-135? Is was only visible from Kindsbach Hill...

Hi all,

KC-135 was not 58-0036, but 58-0086. It departed yesterday as Koo06 back to Mildenhall.

And some confirmations. 06-6165 was indeed on base and was from 436AW. C-5A 70-0447 is indeed from 445AW.

Hi Thijs,

I am a little confused, maybe because I am not exactly a NOTAM specialist.
I've seen movements in this post from june 28th, yet I understand from the NOTAM in your post that Ramstein is closed from june 24th? I had the plan to pass by at Ramstein next thursday on my way to the Frankfurt fair, hence my curiosity.

Ramstein have (since a few months) two runways from which 08-26 is closed from 24 jun untill 15 aug. So all traffic will be on the other runway.

when a airport is closed, the NOTAM say AD CLOSED were AD stands for Aerodrome. When having a single runway the runway can be closed but the aerodrome can be open, in this case only for helicopter traffic.

So to answer your question, Ramstein is open and active!

Thanks Thijs, for your quick and clear reply. I didn't know the other runway at Ramstein was back in use. In fact, I checked the map on this site and there the other runway still has the crosses, indicating that it's not operational.
