TLP Flying Course Spotters Day
Dear all,
This is a short message from the TLP Intelligence Office. For some time now, people have contacted us to ask if they could visit TLP in order to take photo's of our aircraft. In the past, this was often possible, but for some time now, access to the base has been very limited.
At this time, the security policy of TLP does not allow photographs to be taken and/or civilians to be allowed on base. We are currently thinking about re-introducing a spotters day, where a maximum of 50 people can visit the TLP Flight Line.
However, we can't make any promises. Access to the base can only be graunted when security is assured. I hope you can understand the fact that we as TLP are responsible for the safety and security of some of the most advanced jets in the world. We do not take this responsibility lightly.
If Spotters Day is reintroduced, it will be published on our website (http://www.tlp.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I will also post a short message on this forum. I can make no promises that Spotters Day will be reintroduced. As you probably already know, TLP is also scheduled to move to Spain in the near future. We do not have information yet about Spotters Day in Spain.
For now, I would like to ask the Spotters Community the following.
(a) Please respect our current policy and do no try to access the base by trying to persuade the guard.
(b) Please do not contact TLP for individual requests. We do not have the manpower to respond to each and every one of those.
(c) Military Aviation Magazines are also not allowed until further notice, with small exceptions approved by the Belgian MoD.
(d) Military Spottes (being spotters who are in active duty within one of the armed forces within NATO) are also denied permission to take photographs at TLP.
Respectfully,
ACO TLP Intelligence Office

'Unfortunately' they came in earlier, meaning some folks missed their arrival (yep, you guessed it). Luckily, they were parked well in sight from spot 3 on 08R. The numbers were 69-024, 69-033 (Turkish Stars), 69-035 and 69-038.
Around 15:45, one Mirage 2000 and Italian F-16s 40 and 59 departed (Thu 12 June).

Around 15.30 a Mirage2000 departed and another at 15.37 this one was read off as 4-BX so should be 356. If you saw another one at 15.45 that makes 3.
I think they departed all 4, and also the 4 Itaf F-16's, at least they were starting up all 4, did not see them depart actually. Shame the TLP did not fly....

DJ

@ Piet and all: Sorry, then it was 39. That's what we read at first, but when taxiing out it looked like 59... Must have been a reflection, dirt, of whatever.
@ DJ: the Mirage I meant took off at 15:37 indeed. The F-16s (two that I saw) somewhat later, so I used 'around 15:45' for the lot. Your info is more accurate.

Rob were you on base? Did you read the preserved F-16 near the tower, like "Stafhunter" mentioned.
