Hi Roel,

Unfortunately all markings were removed from the Phantoms so I don't know where they came from. I'm sorry.

Maybe other readers on this forum know more about them?

I think it's nearly impossible in Germany because of the contract with McDonnell Douglas it's not permitted to sell these things. They only sell the cells to scrap(sometimes about the VEBEG). But parts like the panel will be kept for the flying Phantoms in Wittmundhafen and Neuburg. I think it's easier to buy things like this in USA

Just curious,

What's the status on the aircraft on the dump at Jever? More aircraft on the list of being scrapped these days in Germany????

With all F-4Fs and quite a number of Tornados leaving the theatre these are the types to expect.

Sure, just watch the tenders at http://www.vebeg.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Unfortunately you will get the rest of the remains as well...

You'd think this would be a great chance for the MLM to get a phantom for their 32nd TFS line up (Which is looking awfully poor maintained). Sure its a F instead of an E but the general public wouldnt know the difference.

Ah well.. The airframe is exactly the same as the E model so you're right ;)

Hi all,

We went to Jever after a great day at Wittmund for the Spottertag 50 Jahre Phantom. Wittmund was great with beautiful Phantoms and very nice weather. At Jever the Phantom looked very "different" as they are being scrapped with "brutal force" now. Lots of containers to dump the scrapmetal. I think the pictures show it all. Very sad to see so many Phantoms end up here...
