I think you mix up some things Wildpicture.
When the wind blows from the southwest rwy 24 will be in use and not rwy 06.

 Yes, I seem to have mixed them up. Tomorrow the wind is predicted to come from south west, so they will depart from 24 (flying the heading 240). I saw the picture of the departing F16 on the Leeuwarden page. If the jets remain low enough until the end of the runway so that you can shoot this kind of photo's, it will be great. If they already gain altitude and turn before the end of the runway, it will be hard to get such shots. And when landing I would like to get some shots of the Phantoms at the end of the runway when they drop their chutes and turn.

Maybe I will go to one spot for the morning and then to the other for the afternoon. :D I do have a day off from work, so I have all the time.

Hi Wildpicture,

Always nice to read that new people find their way to this message board. Did you still do something in aviation after you stopped for your training in the Klu?

It seems you are lucky with the weather :) . According to wind direction runway 24 will be in use. Enjoy your day and perhaps post some pictures in the photoforum?

Hi Edward, unfortunately not. I am working in a completely unrelated field now. It was nice to find Scramble back. I had a subscription for many years back in the 80's. I just wish I could photograph all those aircraft from then with the equipment I have now. Those days there were just so many more bases and aircarft. I grew up in the north of Limburg, surrounded by airfields. All those different types then and all of them had really nice camouflage patterns. Quite a difference from the boring light grey they all seem to have these days. :?

I will post some of my shots after tomorrow.

Hi guys,

I am still looking for confirmation that Phantom 38+74 was parked on the line on Thursday afternoon. I know there were many people on base that day, so could one of them please confirm (or deny)?
Many thanks in advance!

After Oscar posted this there was some confusion about it, so that´s why I asked for confirmation. That´s all!
But thanks anyway.

Matrix51 = FB-02
Further also the U-05 Fokker50 334sqn visited Leeuwarden
U-06 should be U-05, i made a typo error earlier today

The weather was great. I even got a slight sunburn. 8)
In the morning I stood at the Marssum side spottersplek. The succes for jets taking off was variable. Especially the Rafale's seemed to want to imitate a missile taking off. For the afternoon I wnet to the other side (Jelsum). The jets landing were very easy to photograph. The ones taking off very difficult. I remember standing at that side 25 years ago was much easier. Back then everyone stood in the field directly next to the fence and you could photograph over the fence.

But it was still a great day.

Here are some pics of the day:
