Hi Spine, Oscar,

Are we talking about Thursday or Friday? I noticed the 38+74 flew a mission Thursday morning, and I understand 38+46 arrived Friday morning. Was it parked on the line Thursday afternoon (around 2, 2:30)?
Many thanks in advance!
Cheers,

OK, nog maar eens dan:

============

Of beide!

=============
Zo beter?

serials Phantoms 4-4

Post by pollypeter »

Hello,

I'm looking for the serials of the F-4's that flew on Fryday afternoon the 4th of April. If possible in the order of departure and also in the order of arrival. Unfortunately I wasn't able to read all the numbers on the photo's that I've made. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Hello,

as this is my first posting here, I suppose a short introduction would be polite. I have been a very enthousiastic military spotter (and Scramble subscriber) in my teenage years (1980's). As many spotters I wanted to fly myself and was indeed accepted by the RNLAF in their training (LUOS 83-8 ) to fly the F-16. Unfortunately I had to end the training when I suddenly needed glasses. During the last 20 or so years I have done very little with regards to spotting, besides visiting some open days. Still the sound of a jet engine gives me goose pimples. 8)

Anyway, I want to visit Leeuwarden tomorrow (monday april 7) to watch and photograph the FF 2008 jets. The weather won't be too great and the wind will be coming from the south west. So I guess they will be flying from runway 06, heading south west.

My question: Will the spotters place at runway 24 still be usable to photograph the jets, or will they already be too high when passing the fence there? I gues when landing they will be easy to photograph there when leaving the runway. I could go to the field near 06 but I haven't been there since the 1980's. :oops: So I don't know if I can park my car there somewhere.

What time will the first wave be leaving? At around 9.30 hrs local time?

If anyone can help an "old rusty" spotter I would be gratefull!

Hi Hans

Maybe this will help you a bit:
http://www.scramble.nl/airports/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Klick on Netherlands and then again on Leeuwarden.
You will see a short discribtion where you can go.
I have never been spotting at Leeuwarden, but maybe it will help you a bit.

Thanks Brian. I have been to Leeuwarden a few times. I have even visited FF 2005, but then I was standing on the "spottersplek" at runway 24. I like that place very much and got great shots from there. And you have the sun from behind, although I am afraid there won't be too much sun tomorrow....
