Also went to SPL today, photo's are shot with a Kodak LS753 compact digital camera 5.0 megapixels, hope you like them.
I just see that there is a hair or dust on my sensor, have to dismantle my camera to clean it up. Hope you still like the photo's.

Nice pictures Joost
For Pipo I have the advice to buy a real camera and keep practicing. For good photos it usually helps to have the sun in your back which at the Mc Donalds is only after 7 o'clock in the evening. Also why 3 pictures of a Northwest and an Emirates? If you want to display pick the best one and leave the rest out.
I also tried to make some shots today. during the morning the wind was so strong that only rw 27 was in use for both landing and take off. You could see this was also a new experience for air traffic control, some of the seperations were very close and some to close, leading to go arounds. From mid day 24 was again used for take-off.
Having only one landing runway did have the advantage that you didin't have to miss anything. Also a number of normally very early flights now arrived with delays (and better sun).
landing 27
takeoff 24
From the side of the long term car park (I was to late for it's landing)
Romeo cargo
Sierra cargo
I must have missed the memo where Schiphol is announced as a DHL hub. There were 2 A300 and 1 B757 this afternoon
Hope you like em

If you are dutch look @ a other topic of mine http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=and see that not every 1 have the money to buy a GOOD camera what you say. But i still think the pictures are good, after all, i take the photo's with out a tripod, and with maximum digital zoom, so i have to stand very still and in the wind it is very good show i think. Yes i know a better camera will work for me, so i hope the tax pay my 800 euro is still get from them and then i will buy a second hand Canon 30D or the 20D that some1 offers me seconds hand incl lenses for 700 euro, but until then i have to do it with my Kodak LS753 compact camera:EC wrote:Nice pictures Joost

But thanx for the tip, maybe you can help me when i have my Canon how to use it the good way.

limit
@PipoServisAir
Know the limits from your camera, don't use digital zoom, go to places were you are close to the planes (panoramadeck).
Take your pics with the sun in your back or side!

It may look too close for you, but I don't want to start a discussion again about what things look like from the ground. A go-around can be initiated for a whole lot of reasons, like a sudden extreme gust of wind, for instance.EC wrote:You could see this was also a new experience for air traffic control, some of the seperations were very close and some to close, leading to go arounds.
IF a go-around is initiated during mixed-mode runway use (landings and take-offs on the same runway) due to the departing aircraft still being on the runway, this is most of the time due to the fact that the pilots did not start their take-off run right away (rolling take-off). ATC anticipates on a certain amount of time that an aircraft needs for lining-up and being airborne. Seperation is based on experience in these situations. Pilots are aware of the fact that they need to start their roll immediately, but checklists need to be taken care of as well and these, and possible other things can, take a bit longer than expected, thus creating a possible situation in which the runway is still occupied and the aircraft on final has to make a go-around.
This has nothing to do with inexperience of the controllers with these kind of situations.

PS. this is not posted with the intention of starting a discussion, just making sure that everyone understands that these kind of runway combinations are not very common, but that this doesn't mean we don't know what we're doing.
I seem to have managed to step on several toes in just a few sentences.
PiPo I have added my advice on a new camera in you tread. On where to go and how to use it I would say look at what others do and ask other people with cameras about their experiences.
As for air traffic control, a little humor please. I was not accusing anybody of incompetence, I was just aknowledging that conditions were though today. I can also understand that these conditions make it difficult to predict flight times and that a number of other factors also influence the proceedings. But please do not tell me that I am not capable of judging what I have seen today, I have spend enough time around airports to have some insights.
That the wind was strong today can also be seen in this scene near the DDA hangar this morning
Kind regards
EC

None of my toes are stepped on .
I cannot, and will not, be the one that tells you what you can and can't judge. This because I don't know you.
Most people here, including you, are probably well aware of what the basics of the procedures are. But this sentence:
Again: This is the way I read your sentence.
Some people without some knowledge about ATC might think that safety is at stake here. I just wanted to make clear that this was, and is, not the case. Not necessarily to you, but to anyone who may not understand the situation entirely.
I may have big feet, but you don't step on my toes that easily.

may be misinterpreted by some people. You seem to say that this procedure hasn't been done before, and that it led to several unsafe situations (aircraft being too closer to each other than meant.)EC wrote:You could see this was also a new experience for air traffic control, some of the seperations were very close and some to close, leading to go arounds.
