Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

You took a nice pic of a gasballoon!
These kind of balloons are rare!

No registration is visible. Was it a dutch balloon?

I think you are right about the German part, heard D-OEIM yesterday on Rotterdam approach.

A few months ago I saw also a balloon like this one in Aarle-Rixtel.(Noord-Brabant). Never saw such one before.

The balloon is registered in France: F-PBRD. A German pilot wants to break a world-record with this small balloon (FAI Class AA-3), and this flight was a testflight. They departed from Gladbeck in Germany, and landed on the Dutch beach!

Never knew balloons use air traffic control, let alone frequencies like Rotterdam Approach!

They have to! Specially when they are 'flying' in controlled airspace!
Several years ago two RAF Harriers were entering Soesterberg airspace
for an unexpected fuelstop and they were warned by the ATC-controller
for some hot air balloons in the vincinity of Amersfoort. And of course the
balloon was also warned for two rapidly approaching fighters!

Nice to hear!

More recent was the departure of an Il-76 from Soesterberg. A hot air balloon was 'flying' right in the extended centerline of runway 27 and at the same time an Il-76 was about to depart from runway 09. ATC was 'not amused' because the balloon was unexpected and the Il-76 had a slot for departure. ATC told the balloon to descent immediately so that the Candid could pass below!!!
Must have been a great sight, standing in the basket to see a Candid passing below you with only 500 feet seperation!
