Operational military Dakota's
Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

The one in the front is equipped with PT6 Turboprop engines instead of the original Radial engines.Joris Heeren wrote:Hi Marcel,
Well, operational... Looks like the storage site at Snake Valley AFS to me (am I correct?). Nice picture though, including one of the more sinister conversions in front.Warthog 71 wrote: And some nice African.

Thai Dak's + bonus material
Haven't seen operational Thai onces posted yet so far. To bad the quality is poor, this is due to the distance to the subject. I'm sorry, but I haven't got any other pictures of operational Thai Dak's:
Some bonus material of preserved Dak's:
Thai AF Dakota:
RoCAF (Taiwan) Dakota:
former Yugoslavian AF

This are my first scans from this rainy but unforgettable day...

I'm not even sure that a DC.3 is a Dakota. A C-47 technically isn't even a Dakota. As far as I know DC.3 is the civil name for the military Skytrain. It was the Brits that subsequently named its aircraft 'Dakota' in RAF service... Since this topic reads 'operational military Dakotas' it shouldn't even have included the Greek C-47 with which this whole topic started... bla bla...well, goodnightJanos wrote:I know. De Uiver is not a Dakota DC-3 but a DC-2. Whatever!!
