Working on a (photo) book regarding the former Rheine Hopsten airbase in Germany, I am looking for photos from this airfield and its inhabitants.
Have tons of stuff myself and sure am not looking for the average grey F-4F pictures but am especially looking for following :
Special colored F-4F and F-104G
Mission markings
Live armament (only JBG-36 episode)
Aircraft taking the barrier
Airfield infrastructure
Emergency pictures
Crew pictures
Please drop me an email if you are willing to help out. Your help will be very appreciated.
Kind regards,
André Jans

This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Re: Photos Rheine Hopsten airbase
In Germany they ar working on a book about Rheine-Hopsten.
There's still a discussion running about an aircraft museum at this former base......and/or a cargo airport.
So, why a book from a Dutchman about a German airbase?

Yes, my buddy Uwe Steenweg is working on a book too.
He dates more the historical facts in text while I aim for the more photo like approach.
Discussion is running at Flugzeugforums too.
As for it why :
Many Dutch spotters were present at Hopsten during the active years. Actually, this base was closer for me than the main airfields in Holland.
Cheers, André
