In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Hi All,

after posting my first two pics in the Dinosaur topic, I thought it might be nice to start a new one with one of my favourite topics: Bushplanes!

Pics are not the greatest quality, scanned with a normal flatbed and no photoshopping done. But, still some of them are quite nice to see I think. And of course I will be waiting for your postings!!

I hope to borrow a slide scanner soon to get more old pics digitized. Have quite a few more beauties waiting (Otters, Norseman, Beech 18 etc.)

Great shots! Got my first taste of these birds earlier this year and just love'em!
Like the bare metal Beaver especially...

Absolutely among my favorites as well (as Richard knows since long :wink: ) !
But erhm, if I start scanning these too I will really run into problems with my time... I'll have to leave it at this Provia slide for now.

Nice one Erik! One still missing from my list... (boohoo), will dig up some Beech 18s at home of the worldfamous Rusty Myers! Still have some prints somewhere.

In the meantime I came across some other prints in the office, so scanned them this morning. Here goes:

Definitely a treat, the Noorduyn Norseman! Dutch design from the 1930s still alive and kicking! This one was seen at Red Lake, Ontario in 1999. We caught a ride on one of its sisters.

Our ride for a flight to Victoria, BC at Kenmore Air Harbour in 1995. A converted DHC-3. I must say I was quite impressed by this Turbo Otter. What a climb out at Lake Washington!

Well what to say about this beauty... Used to be the spotter plane at Port Alberni for the FIFT Martin Mars firebombers. I believe it now flies somewhere in Germany?

Also a proper bushplane, although some people will just refer to it as a propliner. Everts Air Fuel's "Hot Stuff" on a fuel delivery at Port Alsworth, AK. Very hard place to get to, as it is in the Lake Clark nature reserve, across the Cook Inlet from Kenai...

Hiya,

First my appologies for the following pics. I'm not an expert in photoshop.

Went to Canada in 2005 with my sister to visit distant relatives and combined this visit with some spotting.
I visited the region once before in 2001, but that was some sort of hit and run week...

This time i had two weeks and visited different locations. I also took my sister and our host with me for my first ride in a float equiped aircraft:

One other spot i had to visit, was Doug Ronan's privat water runway. I mailed Doug if a visit was possible and got a very nice reply back.
The day i decided to visit Doug, i couldn't reach him by phone, so i took a gamble he was at home. Upon arrival, he wasn't there,
but his dad was and after a short chat i scooped the place, looking for some nice pics.

When i was finished, Doug arrived home and we also had a nice chat:

Did some more digging at home and found another couple of prints to filll this topic. Once again the quality isn't al that, being that they are made from so-called digiprints (slides printed on photopaper) then scanned on a flatbed.

But here goes:

For the Beaver Lovers (ahem) among us, this C-FOBT is a real treat. It's s/n 3, which makes it the oldest flying Beaver in the world! Owned by Rusty Myers Flying Service, it operates out of Fort Frances ON and their northerly base Savant Lake ON. Flying tourists and goods to and from their cabins out on the remote lakes in Northwestern Ontario. Fishing and hunting with a Beaver. How cool is that!

Shot is a bit blurry as OBT was pulling about 3Gs overhead. A Beech 18 of Rusty Myers taking off from Savant Lake.

Dressed with a sharkmouth the Beeches of Rusty Myers really stand out. The way they are flown does quite give the fighter experience to the tourists in the back....

Like the Beech 18 and the C-46 Commando pics. Very nice birds.

That sort of flying sure beats transporting 200+ tourist to Playa del Wodka in a big aluminium tube :twisted:

Just returend from Tanzania, not to many floats or radials there. But a lot of bush to make up for it. :wink:

A nice banking manoeuvre of Twin Beech C-FRPL over one of the quarter million lakes of Northwestern Ontario, in the Summer of 1999. Our pilot was Brad, a very good guy, flying for Rusty Myers at the time. Unfortunately we lost contact afterwards...

Moored on the edge of Lake Clark at Port Alsworth is this fine Otter N90574 of Lake Clark Air. They also had a Beaver present. September 1997.

Normally these small thingies are not my cup-of-tea for photographing, but the "trial-shot" of this Cessna came out quite well.

Another Beaver. This one had a Vargas-style pinup painted on the tail.
