Torrejon AB 12-10
Hi,
recently back from the Madrid area.
When planning this trip I was not aware of the "day of Spain" (Columbus did find the Americas). However Pablo Rada was so friendly to inform me that on this day was on Friday. After a phone call on Thursday evening a pick up from my hotel was arranged. So of to Torrejon AB to take some pictures from outside the base.
However after the pick Pablo told me that the Spanish aviation spotters had arranged a base visit for which you had to be prenotified. He told me that I should try it at the gate as other Spanish spotters were not prenotified.
So a local spotter spoke with the MP if I could enter as well. I was from the Netherlands so that was to be checked with his commander first. Apparently the commander did not reply so he did let me in as it was ok he thought. So instead of spending my days around the base, I was going insite.
The following pics were taken during take of and landing. Hope you like them. Oh yeah, there were about 60 fighters on the platform....
Special thanks for the guy with the beard as he did the talking (sorry, I lost his name)

Do you have more information about this fly-past? If i look to your pictures there was a formation of 4x CL215 4x? F-18 4x Mirage F 4x F5? and 6x C-130 anymore? Did all the all aircraft operate out of Torrejon? This was for the annual flypast over the city.
Do you also have a serial log?
Thanks in advance

Hi Marco. Congratulations, you got a very nice album there.
This is Juan Andres, the spotter with the videocamera, I told you about your hotel at the end of the trip, do u remember?
We all at the group were very very happy for you since you did your trip to our country as a regular visit but finally you got this amazing 60+ fighters buffet in return to share with us, making such a long travel much more worthy than you expected (Spain is always surprising )
Marco: I'm considering the sigma 50-500 for my nikon D200 and i would like to ask you: could you send me a pair of pictures (no matter of subject) taken both at 50 and 500, original JPG or RAW files as they came out of the camera with no adjust at all, please (riotajo@gmail-dot-com)
Congratulations again, and greetings from Spain
PS: don't look for me (i'm the one behind the camera -well, everybody is behind their camera, but i'm behind the shoting one- )
My son and my brother are the ones in the first term holding the flag. Find yourself standing behind about the middle
