Well, at that time I didn't have a camera, or I didn't have the time to be at the fence too many days... Therefore I just loooove all these shots! A great tribute to an airbase about to move off to the history books!

no idea if these have been posted before (30+ pages to shift through...

Anyway, there was a rotoation between 32TFS and 11 sq RAF with Lightnings during december 1986. These were from 4 December:

Just a question about this one:

Later on, didn't the F.27's have a longer nose? I'm not that into military aviation (and I was born in the 80's), so I'm curious, did they make longer nosecones for some kind of radar equipment?

yes, this is treu. They have had an update. They got a weather radar in the nose dome. so it got longer.
