I use a € 600,00 Panasonic Lumix FZ50 consumer camera, so nothing special, it is not even an SLR. But I'm pretty pleased with the results myself, especially for that money. Picture quality goes downhill very quickly in bad weather though. But then again, bad weather is not a condition in which to expect a lot from any camera...

I haven't a clue about much of the settings, since I manually set shutterpriority between 1/320th for prop aircraft, and 1/500th or higher for faster moving fighters. The rest is automatically done by the camera.

They did fly, but landed when a big cloud was blocking the sun (this is where the quality produced by my camera makes a steep dive

By the way, the Italian Tornado's had the last two digits of the serial painted on the nose wheel doors (these were more clearly visible than the MM's on the scorched tailsection....):
