Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Vintage, wrecks and Relics in N-W US and Canada

Just processed some more holidaypics, this time of a few oldies and preserved aircraft I shot.

First aviation thing we did during the trip was a visit to Paul Allens (Microsoft co-founder) Flying Heritage collection at Arlington. Two weeks after our visit they started moving to Paine Field and the collection is currently closed

All aircraft are flying or will be made airworthy later. The immaculate P-51D flew the day we visited.

Next visit was to the Museum of Flight, very nice collection and some outdoor exhibits as well. On the military side I saw three RAAF Wedgetails but I could get good shots of the,and I am not even sure if I would have tried..... Next to the museum I found these two...

At Paine Field you can find the MoF restauration facility where, as well as a huge general aviation parking parking..

Later we went to Vancouver Island in Canada, these were seen an Nanaimo. On hearing we came from The Netherlands a local homebuilder said this was a sistership of the PBY that flies in Holland and the guy who does the checkflights for the Dutch crew is in fact the owner of this Cat..

A small light aviation field at Parksville-Qualicum held two nice surprises, a Super Stearman and a T-6...

We headed north to Comox, where they have a small but nice museum.

and when you go there, make a quick stop at Courtenay, mainly floatplanes, but these small beauties as well...

Hope this gives an impression to anyone wanting to go there. It was my first time stateside and although it was no aviation-trip I still managed to get a few Gigabytes of nice shots...

As it says on the engine it is a Republic (Super) SeaBee, a late fourties American seaplane... Maybe there are quite afew of them left in the States, but this was the first one I ever saw..

Thats what I said , and to be overcomplete, it is a 1947 vintage RC3 Republic Seabee, Serial #987 and it is currently for sale for 122,900 dollar ! (http://www.raptoraviation.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

it is indeed one of only six surviving Vought F7U-3 Cuttlas, serial 129554 ... quite a rare aircraft! Will look great by the time the've finished the restauration, no doubt... Picture was taken from outsidde the fence...

Wow what a nice diverse bunch of aircraft. Specially like the WW2 war birds.

Are that Hurricane and Bf109 really going to fly???

They will yeah, if I remember right, the Hurricane is basically airworthy, but Mr. Allen wants everything perfect! In fact near all the planes there are infosigns stating the actual percentage of completeness/authenticness... For instance, the P-51 is 100% genuine, it even has two crystal radio's that could operate, biut the whole band they used to operate in doesn't exist anymore. The Bf-109 by the way was dug out of a beach in France!
