Finnish Hornets MLU-2

Post by JJ Dam »

Hi

Between 2012-2016 all Finnish Hornets received a MLU-2 update, and received a ground -attack capability. Therefore the type designation changed from F-18C/D to F/A-18C/D.
Can someone tell me what the external difference is between these two designations?
Maybe extra antenna’s?
Who can help

Kind regards,
JJ

From the list of the Finnish Air Force, the Hornets got a new chaff/flare dispenser:

I find it odd that this is attached to a pylon, but apparantly it is. You can indeed see it on recent pictures of Hornets, not on older pictures. I have seen it both left and right, not sure if they always have it on both sides though.
