It seems this plane wasn’t shot down, but crashed near Belgorod June 17th, after hitting powerlines. Which also explains the clear cut vertical tailfin.

Makes sense.. it could explain the violent pitch up of the aircraft and very speedy ejection. Also I think that I remember the crashed aircraft in Belgorod was at the edge of a forest. And what Hammaro says, still very fresh green scenery.

Well I don't know anything about tanks and stuff but regarding aircraft and helicopters the Russians ceased quit a few of them in Crimea. However, most airworthy aircraft and helicopters from the naval unit at Saki were evacuated to Kulbakino in time.

The other bases at the time were Belbek, home to the 204th Brigade with about 50 MiG-29s (a lot of not most of them non-airworthy) and some L-39s. Kirovskoye was home of the flight test centre (or what was left of it) and only housed about a dozen of stored Fulcrums including the former Ukrainian Falcons aircraft and a few transports and helicopters.

Surprisingly the Russians allowed the Ukrainians to evacuate their non-airworthy aircraft from Belbek, Kirovskoye and Saki and subsequently about 50 MiG-29s and about a dozen Kamov 27 and 31's and Mi-8s were disassembled and moved to Kulbakino by road. Four stored Beriev 12's and nine operational MiG-29s along with four L-39s remained behind in Crimea, the Berievs probably because they were not worth evacuating, and the operational aircraft because the Russians didn't let them go..

I can stongly recommend reading "Guardians of Ukraine" from Babak Taghvaee which provides great detail about the occupation of Crimea and the evacuation of the aircraft which is supported by Google Earth imagery. Some 50 MiG-29s had shown up at Kulbakino by the summer of 2014. Many of which were relocated to Lviv for overhaul. The 204th Brigade from Belbek initially continued to operate from Kulbakino with some overhauled aircraft by was relocated to Lutsk around late 2020/early 2021.
