Hi, Never been to Spangdahlem yet. Can anyone tell me what the best place is (wind from the west) Preferably the coordinates and other necessary info like if a ladder is needed.
Thanks in advance!
Marcel

Question: i read about people getting parking tickets when parking near the forest when rwy25 is in use.
Anyone has advice about legal parking spots wihtout any police problems?
On google maps I see a parking near Borner Distribution International - good parking spot?
regards,
Jarno

Re: Spotting Spangdahlem
The best legal/easiest parking spot I can think of is at the edge of Binsfeld, where the Saalholzstraße meets Zum Dodelsberg. All the roads from there leading up to RWY23 are 'Land- und forstwirtsch. verkehr frei'. So parking in that area is risky (not allowed) and you might end up with a parking ticket.Ragnar wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 13:59 Question: i read about people getting parking tickets when parking near the forest when rwy25 is in use.

I've been at ETAD four times in the past two weeks and parked 'illegaly' closer to RWY23. Police did drive around but did not do anything. However, I guess we were lucky as I still hear stories of spotters being fined.

Re: Spotting Spangdahlem
AFAIK parking in the forest between Binsfeld and rwy 23 tends to be more prone to being fined than parking west of finals.
The forester only wants you to use your brain, i.e. no hot exhaust in dry long grass, for instance. Base police cannot be bothered.
No guarantee obviously...
