Help - trying to connect UBC3500XLT to laptop
Hi y’all,
I apologize upfront for this question.
Having been absent from the radio community for a decade, I thought about reprogramming my UBC3500XLT.
Then I remembered: there was something special to it…
I have the USB-to-scanner cable, but none of the software (that was lost when my desktop PC crashed many moons ago). How to progress, which steps to take?

You can get the software here; https://bctool.software.informer.com/2.0/
The only fiddly bit is finding out what settings you need under options -> scanner ports and units. Some trial and error should solve that part.

Thanks! No ‘port simulators’ needed anymore?

Re: Help - trying to connect UBC3500XLT to laptop
Hm. Nothing.
So, situation description:
1 - scanner
2 - USB to scanner cable (with a ‘fat part’ )
3 - laptop with only USB ports
I have:
* COM3
* 57600 baudrate (same as the scanner)
* 25 Poll rate (or any poll rate)
And then nothing happens…
All USB ports are functional (says the device manager), the software sees which ort I am using (as the port changes when I switch USB port).
I honestly don’t know what to do now. Aside from programming manually…

Re: Help - trying to connect UBC3500XLT to laptop
Ah. This might be it: the device (cable) is shown as “PL2303HXA PHASED OUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER”.
It’s gonna be manual, then, clearly.

Have you tried different Baudrates on both the scanner and in the software?

Same problem as I had, USB cable with old chip.

Little late.... Your old cable most likely had a PL2303 clone chip, which were made useless with a driver update some years ago. Roll back to driver 3.3.2.105 should do the trick. See https://embeddedarea.com/the-famous-old ... l2303-usb/ for a download.
