As Tempe (AZ) is very close to the international airport of Phoenix (AZ), I made sure to have some time to spot before and after meetings.
Phoenix doesn't have the most diverse traffic in the world, you'll mainly spot aircraft from the well known US-airlines. However, the photography positions are very good, enabling you to shoot some nice shots.
On the first day I started in the early morning on the top of the Terminal 3 Parking Garage. Weather was sunny and nice (18C-20C), but this also resulted quite quickly in heatwaves. This made me go to the South side of the airport where they created a path with good views on the Southern runways (07L/R-25L/R).
Anyway, here's an impression of what I saw at PHX on 7 March 2022:
1. United took delivery of its 1st MAX8 in June last year and now operates 16 of them, including this N37257:

2. Always nice to see Frontier Airlines with their lovely tails!

3. Phoenix hosts an Air National Guard air base as well, which operates a fleet of KC-135Rs. Photographing them is tricky due to the distance from the parking garage and the heatwaves, but it gives you an impression:

4. American Airlines has a hub at PHX so you can see them a lot with CRJs, B737s, B787s, A319, A320s and A321s like this rather new A321neoLR, or A321-200NX N436AN. American operates more than 50 A321-200NXs already:

5. Spirit also flies from PHX with their bright yellow Airbuses like this A320neo N924NK:

6. One of the few international airlines operating to PHX is Air Canada, seen here with A321 C-GIUE:

7. SkyWest is mainly known as a "production carrier" for the US mainlines but also operates a few aircraft in its own livery. This CRJ700 N741EV was however flying for American Airlines:

8. Same goes for Mesa Airlines, which calls PHX its home and operates a few CRJs with their own titles as shown by CRJ-900 N925FJ:

9. Sun Country Airlines also flies into the airport several times a day with their B737-800s like this N805SY, still sporting the old livery:

10. Alaska Airlines can also be seen but has not as many flights, including sometimes their new MAX9s like this N924AK:

11. Another MAX-operator and big user at PHX is Southwest Airlines. Here's MAX8 N8730Q just after landing:

12. One of the more interesting bizjets that I saw at PHX was this Cessna 680A N858MG:

13. A nice break from all the big US-airlines is this nicely liveried ERJ135 N16525 of Contour Airlines:

14. 38 years old but looking splendid is this RC695 N9812S:

15. Nice little Mexican Cessna 525B CJ3 XA-ACR:

16. There's also cargo traffic at PHX like Amazon Prime Air with this B767-300ER(BDSF) N419AZ:

17. Delta is also, of course, a player at Phoenix, using mostly A321s like this N363DN but also bigger stuff like B767s or B757s:

18. And I end my set of this day with this lovely C-32 99-0004 of the USAF, which brought FLOTUS to Phoenix:
