09jan15 Cyprus Airways closed down ops

The European Commission ruled on Friday that €102m in government support given to Cyprus Airways (CY) in 2012 and 2013 constituted illegal state aid.
The national carrier cannot afford to return the money and operations have been suspended. An administrator will be appointed for the airline and its operating licence will be revoked, Finance Minister Harris Georgiades told reporters.
