Next day was spent at the Hotel balcony overlooking the airport. Almost all movements could be identified. One exception was a US Army green UH-1, not likely Angolan but no clue from what county it was or if even civil. Only additions to those seen yesterday mentioned.

Michael,
Thanks for this interesting log.
R-614 is an ex Israeli Dornier Do28, c/n 3118.
Can you please confirm you physically checked the c/n of SA365N2 PN-120?
Regards,
Andy

Also, I think PN-120 should be an AS.350???

Many thanks Andy :D Partly hidden behind other aircraft, and those big wheel spats didn't make any sense to me

Haven't checked plate but 6410 is the cn painted on tail. And as that was already in the country on civil register I guess quite likely.

Couple more short logs and some photos (documentation quality at best :( ) to follow when time allows.

All the best, Michael

So there are either 2 PN-120 in Angola, or did the AS-350 many of us saw in Marseille receive another reg? Or did it not go to Angola after all???

That was my thought. PN-120 was seen in Marseille by many people. So what happened to it?

ref. the confusion about PN-120, a collegue of mine took a picture of PN-120 AS365N2 No 6410 on June 18th, 2010. It was parked on the Police ramp next to a (the?) Sonair / Sonangol ramp. So it's been there for at least 2 and a half years at least.

Superb report, BTW. Michael, can you please indicate which hotel you were staying? Haven't been there for almost 20 years now. Looks like a great mid-week holiday destination :-)
Cheers, P

Thanks for the kind words P. Good info on the Dauphin, has earlier been reported as D2-EVF, but must be years ago then.

Stayed in Hotel Avalade (http://www.tdhotels.com/alvalade/ing) a real bargain at only USD 420 for a double (similar to IBIS/Mercure quality) :dontkno:

Will post a few shots made from the Hotel later, here:
http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=91141

Can only recommend Luanda, plenty nice places around town. But those prices are crazy!! Minibar coke 8 USD, dinner in town easily 60 USD and up
