Sceptre71 was showing on ADS-B yesterday as HC-130J 11-5725 [AE4E17].

Probably the other one is also an HC-130J.

Cheers,

Hi I do not know where you got this information but it is incorrect both pilot's self id to atc they were AC-130's
That is why I put that on my post, whilst I listened to them speaking about the failed flight plan.

SEPTR 71 made also a short visit to Ramstein out Rota before they went east again.
Based on altitude it can not be a AC130 which will not climb above FL100 due to lack of cabin pressure.

Days before I heard this one as SEPTR71 on 08906.0 inbound Lajes. Again at a altitude which can not be a AC130.
That is, they had to switch to 132.150 (from memory) which suggest they were inbound Lajes or at least within VHF range.
As a HC130J is a Combat KING, a SCEPTER is most appropiate for them.

AC130 fly as SPECTRE

I can not imagine they will tell atc their exact type, I have never heard them do that.
They always tell their basic type like "we are a C135" rather than RC135. They could have said "we are a C130" which off course sounds like AC130
But I have not heard it in this case.

Several Aviano based F-16's are on a short term training deployment for more than a week now. Only confirmed serial yet is 89-2035 (555th FS).
Moreover, an Icelandic Coast Guard Dash-8 (TF-SIF) was seen flying patrol missions out of Souda on Jan. 28th.
