Moscow Victory Day Parade 2015
Hi,
Spend a very pleasant 5 days in Moscow last week, with 4Aviation, for the Victory Day parade in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the glorious conclusion of the Great Patriotic war. Of course the large air parade (about 150 aircraft and helicopters in total) was the real highlight.
The final rehearsal, complete with the full air parade, was held on Thursday. Our chosen location at Raushkaya nab. (first choice Sofiskaya nab. was closed off) proved to be well chosen. I opted to go for individual aircraft instead of large formations, satisfied with a couple of good results:
The choice of location during the actual parade on Saturday (Leningradskiy pr. near the Dynamo stadium) turned out to be less fortunate than hoped, but the decision to not return to Thursday's location was mainly because of the expected massive crowds on the actual parade day. Also we hoped to be able to see some of the ground armor here. Nevertheless some not too bad pics from here as well:
Some great museums in the area as well, but that's another story (in pictures)...
Cheers,
Marco

I also joined the trip to Moscow for some Russian hardware. The 70th anniversary day parade was the largest in history, with 15000 troops marching down the Red Square, and about 150 vehicles, besides the aircraft. Almost all the latest hardware was shown, and several aircraft and many tanks looked like they were delivered just days ago.
1. Russian Air Force commander opening the flying parade during the dress-rehearsal
2.
3. 5x Ka-52's in formation create a nice sound
4.
5.
6. What a great sound they make!
7.
8.
9.
10. Flying low over Moscow
11. Brand new Su-30SM and Su-35S
12. Su-34 in the new colours
[/url]
13. Flying the flag
14. The actual day of the Parade, 9 May started with a nice champagne breakfast on a hotel roof before the parade started. The view from the roof was very much underneath the flightpath, but the head-on view was impressive
15. The sky was a little hazy/smoggy unfortunately
16.
17. What do you think of this view... 8x Su-24 & 8x MiG-31
18.
regards,
Koen
