Very interesting, Antilliian, thank you. I noticed the aft section of the fuselage was open in your photos.

That's something I like to seeThey even use them to drop four special forces with a fast rope, whilst flying very low and slow.....
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Hah! I was wondering if that's possible. [joke]Lets see, with one guy on the rope that is good at math, maybe he could calculate how fast to swing the rope to the rear to reduce the effective ground impact speed down to 30kts. [/joke] Is it on Youtube somewhere? Maybe with inline skates?

No its not on Youtube all I know is the Colombians developed the technique, so I guess its still classified. Maybe anyone knows what the minimum speed is of a Bronco???

Found another one in my collection of slides...
Taken at the Luftwaffe open day at Oldenburg on 10 november 1984... what a time of year for an open day.

Re: Pictures of .... OV-10 Bronco
Maybe they fly in a very tight turn, much like the E-6 Mercury TACAMO planes, those with thre long trailing antennas for communicating with submarines. That way, the rope will point down by itself. At least, that is what the TACAMO's antenna does. Just a thought... Would like to see it though.tomh wrote:Hah! I was wondering if that's possible. Re: Pictures of .... OV-10 Bronco
Some more German Broncos.
At Lübeck, taken on the same day as Pieter (see earlier) was there, 30 April 1986.
And one at Mönchengladbach airfield. The Flugziel Darstellungs Gruppe had a detachment here, but you had to be lucky to see them. One day in June 1986 I was lucky and saw two. We were even invited to enter the platform and help the ground crew (civilians) towing the aircraft to the hangar. You might notice that 99+17 has a closed backside, not a glass one.
And one at George AFB in 1987. They were former Sembach OV-10A with VV-code. Shame we didn't have a visit arranged with this squadron - and were limited to two wings of F-4s
Cheers, Rob

I still remember one day (the only time I was able to see a German OV-10) I was at Mönchengladbach with someone who knew where the Bronco's could be seen.Slijfie wrote: And one at Mönchengladbach airfield. Unfortunately he forgot on the spot..... Later I heard they were visible from a bridge next to the hangar where you could look inside the hangar.
