In fact, looking again at that photo, you can see the Side-looking type radar pods on the lower forward fuselage of the aircraft on our right - just infront of the wing-root. The USAF's "Snoopy" C-135 aircraft sometimes have similar fairings attached at that position.

Have been doing some research on these aircraft. Just thought I'd point out that from the above photo, you can see that K2900 is in a poor state, while K2899 (on the right) is looking comparitively gleaming!
