Hi,
Would anyone happen to know what year NASA started to drop the “N” prefix and “NA” suffix from their tail numbers?
Thanks,
Colin

Re: H-21C photo request -Correction
CORRECTION! Apologies, the tail numbers should read 53-4370 and 53-4397, both originally H-21Bs. The incorrectly quoted numbers were 'H-21Cs, being payback' to the US Army for the above, which were initially retained by the Vertol Corporation for flotation and engine test works before being passed o...

H-21C photo request
By any chance would anyone have a photo of either of these H-21C's, 57-2610 and/or 57-2611, either from their time in the MASDC or in the case of 57-2610 at Hill AFB in the 1970's? Both were used as test helicopters for the twin gas turbine engine conversion but later restored to their standard Wrig...

Re: H-21 - German Armed Forces
Hi Robert, Sorry for the delay in reverting on this but my old Vertol contact came to nothing. However, I have just obtained a copy of "Klassiker der Luftfahrt 6/07" which states the following (per Google translate), I quote "The [Bundeswehr] V-43 helicopters were built at the Morton ...

Vertol V-43A at Dusseldorf
Can anyone identify a V-43A (H-21) that was on display (and open to the public) at Dusseldorf airport painted yellow with the word "RESCUE" on the rear section of the fuselage? This would have been around 1977 and I assume it was ex. German Army/Air Force. Details of its fate would also be...

Re: H-21 - German Armed Forces
Hi Robert, Many thanks for your prompt and helpful response. I have downloaded that document and will attempt to translate. I have a query in with an old Vertol contact in the U.S. and will wait to see if he can confirm or deny. I do have an image of a c/n plate, but it from 54-4001. Will keep you u...

H-21 - German Armed Forces
Does anyone know if the H-21's operated by the German Armed Forces were simply assembled at the Weserflug GmBH plant in Germany or built there from scratch? I know they were allocated a unique range of c/n's, e.g. WG1-WG31 but were these numbers applied to U.S. manufactured parts or to totally Germa...

REQUEST: Copy of Air Fan magazine
A long-shot, I know but would anyone have a copy of issue # 55 of this French magazine that contained an article on the H-21 'Flying Banana'?
Can't find this back issue copy on a web search.
Thanks and regards,
Colin

Burma/Mayanmar H-21/V-44
Hi,
Any chance anyone knows the c/n or previous U.S. military serials of the 12 H-21s that were supplied to the Burma Air Force?
Thanks,

Hi Robert, Thanks for your last and I have now received a reply to my c/n plate request. I don't know if I can post images here and so you may prefer me to send as a private message or perhaps we can exchange email addresses via the secure contact page of my photo website https://www.colinsphotos.ne...

Re: REQ: French Air Force H-21s
Hi Robert, Thanks for the note of caution with regard to these c/ns and I have to agree. Certainly to assume that the range runs from FR001 to FR107 would be a serious mistake! I too heard that they were built in France but have yet to have this confirmed. I did find reference that the Aeronavale re...
