Re: Technical Museum Tolyatti, Russia

I thought the submarine was the main attraction, although it lay just outside the museum grounds. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_qkPD-ZF4n3k/SlO2SeAEOrI/AAAAAAAAA90/uONt39zoCBs/s800/090624_8295FC.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_qkPD-ZF4n3k/SlO2TFvgSdI/AAAAAAAAA94/pFG4ZIFu99U/s800/090624_8298FC.jpg http://lh5.ggpht...

Re: GREEK AF OPEN DAYS

Hi guys,

Did anyone take a picture of F-104G FG668 / 6668 at Larissa? I'm very interested to see it! Is it at the gate or in town near some barracks?

Cheers,

Re: Thunderflash and Thunderstreak Photo Topic

Hi Martin, Twenthe wasn't a Thunderstreak-base, in 1968 306 squadron and the Dutch Masters were based there with Starfighters. 315 was based at Eindhoven then and was the OCU for the eighty-four. That's why you see the instructor hanging from the cockpit on the LH-side. Therefore, my guess would be ...

Re: Cold War USAFE

QF-4s in several authentic (albeit glossy instead of matt) color-schemes are still flying at Holloman AFB and Tyndall AFB and participate in several airshows in the US each year, flying in heritage flights. You're right about the F-5, no longer flying with the USAF, but they're flying with the US Na...

Re: Cold War USAFE

Apart from the Pig in the front, all aircrafttypes in the picture are still in active service with the USAF, three of them still in with the USAF in Europe. Apart from the Warthog, all are flying in agressor and testing-colors in the States. So stop dwelling on the past, go out there and shoot them ...

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

Yes, let's keep this mega-mix 1970s thread and don't start too many new ones. Unfortunately, since I was born in 1970, I didn't shoot any pics in the 70s, but my first airshow was Volkel in 1975 and I vividly remember Lightnings, Mirages, Phantoms and of course Starfighters on the flightline and fly...

A squadron-rotation between the Huns from Touls and the Starfighters from Volkel in June 1972. My dad was amongst the groundcrew that TDY'ed to Touls.

Great stuff all! Keep them coming.

Rob, do you by any chance have a good picture of K-3064, which crashed on July 18th, 1972? I happen to know a relative of the pilot who perished in the crash.

Re: 1970s Mil Collection

Century means 100. So the F-100, F-101, F-104, F-105 and F-106 are called the century-series. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_Series.

Re: Pictures of .... OV-10 Bronco

Great little aircraft... Just a question: is the aircraft marked 99+32 a different one than the one marked 99+24? If so, it seems to me we have two flying OV-10's in Europe then. Bas Yes, they are different aircraft, but 99+24 suffered an engine-fire earlier this year, so currently it is not in fly...

Re: Thunderflash and Thunderstreak Photo Topic

Hey, too much talk, too little pictures :^W^: Bought a new printer and it turns out it scans as well (Canon MP620). So I decided to scan some F-84F prints from my collection. P-243, 312 sqn vlb Volkel at a dispersal, waiting for things to come, sometime between 1963 and 1966. Colors are not because ...
