Looks like Tsuiki plan to hold their Open House show on 25 November:
http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/tsuiki/kouhou ... index.html
The same day as Hamamatsu, so presumably no Blue Impulse.

Re: Japan Air Shows 2017
Hello Aldin, > I would like to combine with a visit to Hyakuri on 6 & 7 Sep. Photography, numbers or just watching? If you are limited to public transport, there are buses to and from Tokyo Railway Station to the terminal at Ibaraki International Airport on the western side of the base: http://w...

Re: Japan Air Shows 2017
Uni, Thank you very much for your reply; > CVW-5 at Atsugi will fly from May 2nd. (Tue) to 5th.(Fri), because they are not holidays for the American people. Thanks. I used a similar logic in 2013 when I arranged to spend the period 26th December to 3rd January at Atsugi. Previously I had spent the 2...

Re: Japan Air Shows 2017
Hello Uni, I am making arrangements for a trip in April / May to include the Friendship Day show at Iwakuni; Do you know if the USN CAG at Atsugi tend to fly on the Monday and Tuesday after their Spring Festival Open House? If the Open House is confirmed as April 29th, the next week is Golden Week. ...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
The website for Hyakuri has been updated with plans for their Open House, particularly schedules for 27 November: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/hyakuri/img/28air/suke2.pdf And the 26 November: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/hyakuri/img/28air/suke1.pdf It would appear they are going for distinct "morning...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
With the Naha Base website giving "the second weekend of December" as their show date, I thought they were undecided whether to hold it on Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th. But it seems they intend to do both: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/naha/kouhou_event/index.html From Google Translate: Dates:...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
This is interesting. I can see the Blue Impulse website giving a date of 27 November for the Hyakuri Air Festival, but I can’t see anything at the moment on the websites for Hyakuri Base or JASDF. Doubtless they will appear in time. A little later than expected (presumably late enough for the squadr...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
Hi Marco, If you are going to be in Hong Kong or Taiwan, you may want to consider spending your extra time in Okinawa. It will not be the budget JSDF trip of your original itinerary, and you are unlikely to see any F-4s, but with three bases less than 15 miles apart, there are worse places to spend ...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
Marco, The exam question is: what exactly are you after? The end of March marks the end of the financial year in Japan. My experience (from 2007/8) is that, if the JASDF squadrons have used up their budget for the year, flying can be limited at this time. Less so for USAF / USN. Beyond that, the bas...

Re: Japan Airshows 2016
Misawa plan a good show, but unfortunately the quality of the weather doesn't always match the quality of the participation. (Typhoon season in Japan runs from early September to mid October). The base with most comprehensive participation by JASDF types will be Gifu (Misawa will have USAF, USN, JMS...

Re: Japan Air Shows 2015
Uni,
Thank you very much for your information on the 2015 air shows in Japan. It was tremendous help in the planning and preparation of my trip (the Nyutabaru and Naha shows, with 6 weeks of aviation photography around them).
Thanks,
Jonathan.

Re: Japan Air Shows 2015
It will make a trip to the Tsuiki Open House more attractive to have the F-15s there. Their pairs rehearsal on the Saturday last year looked very good - it was a shame that they were scheduled to fly later in the day on the Sunday - after the Blue Impulse and, as it turned out, after the rain starte...

Re: Japan Air Shows 2015
It looks like only the Blue Impulse have cancelled. The Naha show is still listed on the central JASDF event page: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/pr_report/event/ and the Naha base page: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/naha/kouhou_event/index.html But the Blue Impulse page: http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/pr_report/...
