Re: F-35 Lightning II JSF developments
This shouldn’t be news with more than a 100 aircraft of the type in production, but it is: a USMC Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II for the first time ever dropped a laser-guided weapon right on target this week, confirmed a spokesperson of the US Marine Corps. http://airheadsfly.com/2013/10/31/f-3...

Re: Possible detachment of Dutch Air Force Helicopters in Ma
Sweden just cancelled its C-130 to Mali! The airstrips in the north are ,,unfit'' according to the Swedish defence minister. The move is fairly remarkable as the TP 84 and 70 personnel were planned to be operational in less than two weeks from now (October 1, 2013). A few more details here: http://a...

Re: Rumor: Boeing and SAAB to offer Gripen as T-38 replaceme
It is more than a rumour. A Saab spokesperson said this week that if they go ahead with Boeing it would mean a downgraded version of the current Gripen, so a lot cheaper to buy but with the same flying characteristics. Saab still hopes to sell the new Gripen-E/F to many other countries, especially i...

Re: Possible detachment of Dutch Air Force Helicopters in Ma
Sending helicopters can always be considered too risky. The scouts and Dutch military leadership might just decide to send transport aircraft instead, like they did earlier when supporting French troops. Fixed-wing transports might have less risk and a possible Dutch Herc deployment could share some...

Re: Increasing preparations at RAF Akrotiri
Thursday afternoon British parliament has blocked UK military involvement in a possible attack against Syria for the time being, so the Typhoons will likely only fly defensive air-to-air sorties in the Cyprus area and will (for the time being) not be retasked with any offensive missions.
